Bad Rabbit Ransomware

On Tuesday 24th, a new strand of ransomware named ‘Bad Rabbit’ appeared in Russia and Ukraine and spread throughout the day.

The “ransomware” virus is spreading via compromised websites, downloading a fake Adobe Flash Player installer. Please DO NOT click on links or execute any downloaded files which look similar to Adobe Flash Player installer.

This attack, known as ‘Bad Rabbit’ delivers malware via compromised websites. This websites contain malicious links and popups which will download a file similar to Adobe Flash Player installer. Opening this file will trigger the encryption of all the files in the computer and will try to spread to other workstation connected to the same network. This malware is known as ransomware, because it asks for payment before decrypting the victim’s files.

Keep in mind that these compromised websites may be the same websites that you visit every day.
