BT – Loss of Internet after recent McAfee update

To find out if you are impacted by this, check your McAfee DAT version.  Right-click the McAfee icon in the system tray at the bottom right of your desktop, and either: 1) select About, or 2) select Open BT NetProtect Plus and then click on the About link near the top right. Look for the DAT version. If it is 6807 or 6808 and you are unable to connect to the internet, you are likely to be affected. We apologise for any inconvenience this may be causing our customers at the moment.

If you have Net Protect Plus, please go to  BT.com where you will find instructions on How to re-install BT NetProtect Plus. If you have purchased McAfee software independently from another supplier, you may be able to resolve the issue by uninstalling and reinstalling the software by going to home.mcafee.com and then follow the link provided at the top of the screen listed under McAfee Update.
