How to us the PING command on MAC OS

  1. Click on Go >  Applications > Utilities > Network Utility.

  2. Click on the Ping tab and specify a host. You can type a specific IP address or a website. For example, to ping the eBay’s main web server, type ping www.ebay.com. To have your Mac ping itself, type 127.0.0.1.

  3. Hit Ping. If the site/host is up and actively responding, you receive replies.
